Mirena is an IUD that contains birth control chemicals (female hormones). Many women who use Mirena find that their periods stop due to the chemicals. Once you have Mirena removed, most women become fertile right away, but it is also possible that the birth control chemicals stay in your system for some time.

According to the manufacturer, about 80% of women wishing to become pregnant conceived within 12 months after removal of Mirena. So, your chances of eventually getting pregnant are very good.
