is the spermicide on the outside or inside the condom

Spermicides are a type of

Spermicides are a type of detergent that is used to kill sperm before they can enter the woman’s uterus and cause a pregnancy. The only spermicide that is currently on the market in the US is nonoxynol-9 (N-9), though other types are in development and available elsewhere.

When you buy a condom with spermicide already applied, then the spermicide is both on the inside and outside of the condom. Spermicidal condoms may be more effective, but this has not been clinically proven.

When you are using a condom and a separate spermicide, then the spermicide goes in the woman’s vagina, not on or in the condom at all.
